Orbital
Orbital is an exhibition space located within the exterior wall of the ALDI supermarket at Central Square in Altona Meadows.
The space provides a great opportunity to showcase culture. Local developer Brian Noordenne, ALDI, and Central Square helped to facilitate the arts through sponsoring its program.
Each exhibition is locally curated or themed. Curators work with local schools, and community groups. Exhibitions are rotated throughout the year, hence the name Orbital.
The exhibition display case, fitted with a lighting device that highlights the work on display, has been designed to house small three-dimensional forms and images.

Current exhibition: Traces of 'Once As It Was'
Traces of ‘Once As It Was’ displays images of the vibrant and informative mural by Rich Keville and Bryan Itch at the nearby Skeleton Creek underpass on Point Cook Road, Seabrook. Commissioned by Hobsons Bay City Council in 2020, the mural depicts themes of biodiversity and conservation informed by the Indigenous heritage of the local area.
The 'Once As It Was' mural was commissioned by Hobsons Bay City Council as part of its public art program. Learn more about the 'Once As It Was' mural here.
To add to your mural and Orbital viewing exhibition experience, we offer the 'Once As It Was' creative activity for kids, which encourages viewers to examine the mural carefully in search of different features whilst learning about local flora and fauna in the Skeleton Creek habitat.
