Student placement

Hobsons Bay Youth Services team includes a range of youth professionals including youth workers, youth mental health professionals, youth counsellors, administrators, program and project officers and support staff. We work at a local level with young people aged between 12 and 25 years of age.

We believe that having access to meaningful student placement opportunities is important to helping individuals on their career pathways. We provide student placement opportunities to tertiary and further education students.

Student Placement is:

  • designed to provide a practical, meaningful hands-on experience in a youth/community services environment

  • provided to students in tertiary or further education enrolled in a related course (this may a course in youth or community services, or perhaps media, communications, mental health, health promotion – we value creativity and the diversity of young people’s lives and welcome your passion and expertise!)

  • based on individual requirements of your course/area of study

  • in partnership with your school/educational institution

  • unpaid

  • limited to a capped number of placements

  • an opportunity to gain professional experience and be part of a team

  • by application

  • not a guaranteed “pass” – we require a strong work ethic and commitment to learning to ensure the opportunity is meaningful and adds value to both the individual and our service.

Applications and assessment

  • Applications for student placement can be submitted at any time using our online form below.
