City Nature Challenge - Friday 25 April to Monday 28 April

Have you ever driven past Andrew Park Drive or visited the Altona Sports Stadium and wondered what’s happening behind the fence? Now’s your chance to find out. Join the Hobsons Bay Wetland Centre Citizen Science team and Council biodiversity officers on Monday 28 April as we record the first installment of planting at the Hobsons Bay Wetland Centre site.

Compete with cities from around the world by taking photos or recordings of plants and animals and help showcase Hobsons Bay’s incredible biodiversity. Hobsons Bay is joining the Greater Melbourne umbrella along with over 20 councils across metropolitan Melbourne.

The City Nature Challenge is a global event celebrating local wildlife. It’s all about recording observations of the plants and animals in our local area, whether it’s your favourite backyard bird, a beautiful flower or an insect.

Participating is easy, simply download the iNaturalist app, snap a photo with your phone or record a call, and upload it. Your observations will be automatically uploaded into the project. It's a fantastic way to discover nature in your own backyard or local park.
