Who: This session is for ages 16 - 24 years.

Cost: Free

What: Food handling is an essential skill to have if you are working in hospitality, a kitchen or around food in general. We are offering a FREE food handling course, a face-to-face accredited training delivered by Jesuit Community College.  

In this accredited unit of competency, you will learn how to safely handle, prepare and store food, to avoid contamination and food-borne illnesses. Training is face to face with access to kitchen facilities. Suitable for people looking to enter work in food outlets or in kitchens.

This course is a Centrelink approved activity. People with a disability are encouraged to register.

What will you gain:

  • Practical skill set for entry level work in food outlets and kitchens.
  • Statement of Attainment SITXFSA005.
  • Hygienic practices for food safety.
  • Pre-requisite to enrol in SITHFAB0025.
  • Prepare and serve espresso coffee.
  • Credit transfer and pathway to further study in hospitality.

Course Delivery:

Classroom based under the guidance of supportive trainers, with access to kitchen facilities.

Assessment:

  • Online assessments are marked on the day of training.
  • Practical activities, case studies & written exercises.

Lunch and snacks provided.
