Persian Oranges and Pomegranate Dreams is the story of Reza Momeni, a young Iranian boy born in 1920s Iran. Young Reza is just five years old when he is taken from his mother following the untimely death of his father, and forced to live with a relative he does not know. Feeling lost and unwanted, treated badly by this “Auntie”, Reza tries to find a way out of this nightmare. His story is more than just one of survival, it is a journey of redemption, a testament to the strength found in the places we call home and a celebration of the love that defines us. This is based on a true story.

Living in Mildura, the Life and Times of Emma Davis Roberts. In 1886, Emma and her parents migrate from Southern California to Australia, where her father works for George and William Chaffey, invited by Alfred Deakin to bring irrigation expertise to Mildura. The story begins with elderly, unwell Emma reflecting on her life, from the big move and surviving droughts and disasters to experiencing love, loss, and prophetic dreams.

The book launch will feature discussions on the writing, characters, and a special appearance by Reza's daughter, long-time Williamstown resident Shadi Momeni.

There will be a question and answer period and light refreshments will follow. This free event is supported by Hobsons Bay Libraries Homegrown Authors’ program. Learn more about Joyce Butcher here. RSVP directly to Joyce: joyceb46@hotmail.com
