Altona Pier Street precinct

  • Project typeRoads and Streetscape Project

In an effort to support businesses during Covid, Council temporarily closed the road on Pier Street between Blyth and Queen Streets (also known as Pier Street feature site). Extended outdoor trading areas were installed to create a more comfortable outdoor dining experience.

Following extensive consultation with businesses and the community regarding the Pier Street feature site, Council is committed to developing a masterplan for this precinct. This long-term design plan will explore options to permanently extend the footpaths for outdoor dining, and ways to conduct seasonal and permanent road closures.

In the meantime, the Pier Street feature site will continue to remain temporarily closed to vehicles. Some changes will also be made to include more community spaces and opportunities for informal activities.
