Hobsons Bay 360 #17: Providing year-round access to beach matting and free hire of beach wheelchairs over summer

Hobsons Bay features two of the most accessible beaches in Australia! Our Accessible Beaches Program first began offering accessible equipment in the summer of 2015/16 and the program has expanded since then to provide our community members with year-round access to beach matting and free hire of beach wheelchairs over the summer period.

Since launching, over 250 community members have enjoyed access to the beaches of Hobsons Bay. A carer recently shared with us their thoughts on the Program by saying, “What a fantastic opportunity this program is for everyone to be able to enjoy the beach.”

This program has been made possible with support from Williamstown Swimming and Life Saving Club, Altona Life Saving Club and local traders.
