Hobsons Bay 360 #98: Green Industries Program

Council has partnered with businesses to add greenery to industrial areas in Hobsons Bay. Many of these areas have low vegetation and tree cover and the Green Industries Program supports private landowners and businesses in industrial areas to plant trees on their land.

In the lead up to Australia’s largest tree planting event, National Tree Day on Sunday 28 July, DOW Chemical Australia through a joint contribution between Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action and Hobsons Bay City Council, will be planting 2,000 trees and shrubs on their site as part of the program.

The trees planted will contribute towards cooling our industrial areas and helping us to achieve our goal of 30 per cent tree canopy cover in Hobsons Bay by 2040. In addition to tree planting, businesses can also apply for weed management and pest control services to strengthen our biodiversity and habitat garden creation to establish a greater habitat for our native wildlife.
