Dean Mason

Dean Mason (homegrown hobsons bay writer photo).jpg

Dean has lived in the West of Melbourne most of his life, having settled in Altona in 1998 where he lives with his family today. Professionally, Dean works as a leadership adviser supporting organisations of all shapes and sizes in their business and people development.

For many years Dean has volunteered locally and all over Melbourne supporting families experiencing the difficulties associated with family break-ups. In 2012 this work culminated in the publication of 'Daddy's OK', aimed at raising national awareness of the specific challenges faced by fathers when working through the process of separation, divorce and re-building.

Life in, and connection to, Hobsons Bay

I'm a proud long-term Altona resident with childhood memories of visiting an uncle who lived on the Esplanade in the 1950's and 60's. Over the years I have been active as a volunteer in sports clubs, scouts and the local Anglican church, St Eanswythes. Since 2001 my work has been based in a home office that has allowed me to enjoy regular walks along the Esplanade and lunch-time visits to Pier St.
