What's in this kit

  • 1 x Epson Perfection v39II Portable Scanner

  • 1 x USB cable (for power and data connection)

What you need

A computer with a USB port for the cable. The Epson Perfection v39II is powered directly via USB from your computer; no external charging is required.

Before you start

  1. Download the Epson scanning software Epson Scan 2 from the Epson website
  2. Download the Drivers and Utilities Combo Package.
  3. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the software on your PC or laptop.

How to set up and use

  1. Place the scanner on a stable surface near your computer.
  2. Connect the scanner to your computer using the USB cable included in the kit. When the scanner is connected to the computer, it automatically turns on (the scanner does not have a power button).
  3. Place your document or photo face-down on the scanner glass.
  4. Open the Epson Scan 2 software that you’ve downloaded onto your computer (see BEFORE YOU START).
  5. In the Mode field select either Photo Mode or Document mode.

Select the file format. For archival quality photos, use TIFF and a resolution of 600 dpi.

For smaller file size photos to share easily via email and social media use a jpeg format and a smaller resolution.

Select the Preview button and this will scan the item and allow you to check and make any edits to it.

In the Advanced setting table adjust the Brightness, Contrast or Saturation slides and on the right you can see how your images adjusts in real time.

When you are happy with how your image looks select the Scan button

6. Save or share your scan using the software's built-in options.

7. To turn the scanner off, simply unplug the USB cable.
