Waste service disruptions

Have the bins on your street not been collected?

Due to a state-wide truck driver shortage, Hobsons Bay and neighbouring councils are experiencing delayed waste collections.

Unfortunately, our waste collection contractor (Cleanaway) has advised disruptions will continue for some time while more truck drivers are recruited and trained.

During this time, please put your bins out as per your regular schedule and leave them out until they’ve been emptied. This may take more than a few days but we anticipate the delays will reduce as more drivers get on the road.

We understand this is a real inconvenience for residents and we’re continuing to meet with our contractor to see if we can resolve this issue sooner and will keep you updated.

In the meantime, we’re arranging extra Saturday collections, and asking drivers to prioritise collection of our general waste and food/garden streams, which we understand can get rather unpleasant when left out too long.

Please tell your neighbours to leave their bins out! We thank you for your support and patience.
