Heritage Streets and Laneways
The purpose of the Heritage Streets and Laneways Management Plan is to provide clear policy and guidelines that will assist Council in managing and conserving historic public assets.
The overall objectives ensure that:
- The historic significance of public assets are considered when making decisions about future use, development and management of those assets
- There is a consistent approach to the conservation and management of historic public assets within Hobsons Bay
- Increased awareness of, and improved understanding about the historic significance of public assets and infrastructure
This plan is consistent with the Australia ICOMOS Charter for the Conservation of Places of Cultural Significance (the Burra Charter), which has been widely accepted and adopted as the standard for heritage conservation practice in Australia.
