Basic Level Advisory Service
Single-property works and simple dual-occupancy residential developments
This service provides a quick response on questions you may have relating to a planning proposal you are preparing.
What we offer
You can discuss your project with a planner in a pre-application conversation via phone or video call, or face to face at our Civic Centre. If you wish to meet with us face to face, you will need to make an appointment.
We will make contact with you within five business days to either discuss your proposal over the phone, or set a meeting time.
We provide verbal advice on your proposal during the pre-application discussion, so be prepared to take notes.
What you need to have ready
- your questions
- a draft or concept drawing of your proposal
- capacity to take notes based on what we discuss
This is a one-off free service generally limited to a 30 minute conversation, although there will be standard planning application fees.
The handy checklist
For a basic conversation around your proposal you should have:
- a draft concept plan, this would be the drawings showing a floor plan and elevations; this can be a sketch
- an idea of materials and finishes you would like to use
You can also generate a Planning Property Report for your site, by visiting www.planning.vic.gov.au/schemes-and-amendments/planning-report-search. This shows all relevant planning controls.
