Bin lid changeover
Does your general rubbish bin still have a dark green lid?
All general rubbish bins will soon have a red lid.
If you have a general rubbish bin with a dark green lid (instead of red), we will be coming around to swap it over in coming months.
Why?
Bin lids (and what goes into them) will be the same across Victoria. The change is being led by the state government and will make it easier to sort materials at home, so we can get more value from our precious resources and reduce waste to landfill.
You can learn more about the state's bin standardisation project on the Victorian Government's website.
How will I know when to leave my bin out?
We will be working our way throughout the municipality from the end of January 2025 until March 2025. During this time, please look out for a letter in your mailbox, advising of when we are visiting your street and asking you to leave your bin out longer than usual after your regular waste collection.
What if I already have a red-lidded bin?
No action is required from you if you already have a red-lidded general rubbish bin. Simply present your bin for collection and bring it back in as usual.
