Whether a hot summers day or blustery winters night, time spent tasting your way through Hobsons Bay’s refreshing assortment of craft and microbreweries is a relaxing way to spend your day and get to know the locals. So, organise your mates, pull up a stool and plan to find your next favourite brew.

Just a short walk from Spotswood train station you will find Hudsons Road Wine and Beer which features a curated collection of local independent wine labels and over 200 craft beers.  While you are here, be sure to ask for a taste of local Autonomy Distillers gin or liqeur.  Allow knowledgeable staff to help you find your perfect beer and either enjoy it in house or select a few meats and cheeses from their deli and enjoy a picnic along the waterfront.

Black Arts Brewers and Blenders is located in Williamstown North and feature barrel-aged wild ales inspired by the traditional beer-making of Belgium.  Brewer and blender, Joshua Murnane, has turned his obsession for perfecting flavourful recipes into the resulting range of Black Arts brews that blur the lines between beer, wine and cider.

Brew Works is the next stop on the brewery hop and Victoria’s latest brew-on-premise microbrewery.  Sit back and sample the latest brews or brew your own fresh beer.  The brewing process takes around an hour and your batch is left on site to settle and mature. On bottling day your beer will be filtered, chilled and carbonated, and ready to drink.

Is gin more your taste?  Bathtub Gin Co is a small batch micro distillery producing brands such as Angry Duck Gin and Best Day Ever Gin.  Visit their charming warehouse conversion in Williamstown to enjoy a tasting and nibbles amongst their working distillery.
