Truganina Coastal Parklands Altona

Truganina Park has some of best views in the region.

The park is home to the well-known 100 Steps to Federation, a stone staircase made of basalt rock recycled from when the area was a clean-fill tip. The steps lead to the highest land point between Melbourne and the You Yangs mountain ranges where you can take in sweeping panoramic views of Melbourne City, Port Phillip Bay and the adjoining Cheetham Wetlands on a clear day. At the top of the stairs is the sculpture ‘Time Beacon’ by artist Cameron Robbins. 

Visitors to the parklands will enjoy shared bike and walking trails, sheltered barbecue areas, on-lead dog walking, large open spaces and unique views. Toilets are located close Queen Street follow the road from the car park to the toilets.

The Truganina Coastal Parklands connect with the Coastal Bay Trail via a crossing at Laverton Creek.

Buses: 411,412,415 from Laverton

Cycling: Via the Hobsons Bay Coastal Trail – just across the Laverton Creek Footbridge.
