Commonwealth Reserve
Commonwealth Reserve is located in the heart of historic Williamstown, on the foreshore adjacent to Gem Pier. The park provides great views across a row of yacht masts to the City of Melbourne.
The park was originally a mudflat adjacent to the Bay, before being reclaimed. The planting style consists of formal avenues of elms. A number of heritage items are located in the reserve including the Tide Gauge House (formerly at Point Gellibrand) and the Wilkinson Drinking Fountain.
It’s the perfect place to begin exploring Williamstown’s Maritime Heritage with the Hobsons Bay Visitor Information Centre also located in Commonwealth Reserve.
A craft market is held on the 3rd Sunday of every month. The area is well serviced with many shops, cafes, bars and restaurants along Nelson's Place.
