Dear Agnes - 'Music on the Verandah' with Sherry Rich and Rick Plant

Join Aria nominated singer songwriter and visual artist, Hobsons Bay local Sherry Rich and Rick Plant for an afternoon filled with a powerful musical brew of roots, country, folk & rock.

Performing since 1985, Sherry Rich, immersed herself in the Australian and US music landscape in bands such as ‘Cactus Fever’, ‘Girl Monstar’, ‘Sherry Rich & the Grievous Angels’, ‘The Mudcakes’, ‘The Rich Family’ and ‘The Grapes’.

Rick Plant hails from Boston Massachusetts and trained at the Berklee School of Music.  In Nashville he played on Grammy nominated songs and enjoyed 15 years touring and recording with country music luminaries like Buddy Miller, Gillian Welch and Emmylou Harris.  Based in Australia since 2007, Rick has continued working as a sought-after multi-instrumentalist with ‘The Audreys’, ‘Ash Davies’, ‘The Mudcakes’ and Sherry Rich.

This event is held as part of the 'Dear Agnes' contemporary public art program featuring site-responsive works by 12 artists and collectives for nine days over three weeks (Friday 10 March – Sunday 26 March 2023) at the Truganina Explosives Reserve, Altona.

The projects artworks and public programming pay homage to local landscape-inspired themes and 'A Forest for Australia' (1998), a land sculpture by one of the world's leading environmental artists, New York-based Agnes Denes at the Greater Western Water site on Queen Street, Altona Meadows.

'Dear Agnes' is presented by Hobsons Bay City Council in partnership with Deakin University, RMIT University and Greater Western Water.
