Housing Strategy

The Hobsons Bay Housing Strategy has been prepared to manage housing growth in response to population changes in the municipality.

The Housing Strategy is split across three volumes:

  • Volume 1 was prepared in 2014 and 2015 to provide strategic evidence to help devise a housing strategy for the municipality
  • Volume 2 includes a housing capacity assessment that identifies where future housing growth should occur. It was adopted in 2019 and revised in 2021 in response to Planning Practice notes 90 and 9
  • Volume 3 sets out the actual strategy, as well as a policy framework for managing housing in Hobsons Bay over the next 20 years

The Housing Strategy has been implemented into the Hobsons Bay Planning Scheme via Amendment C131. For more information on Amendment C131 please click here.

The Housing Strategy along with the Neighbourhood Character Study and Activity Centres Strategy have informed the application of residential zones across Hobsons Bay.
